Na próxima rodada, o Figueirense visita o Atlético-GO. Já o Bragantino recebe o Vitória.

O confronto

A única chance clara do time catarinense veio na bola parada.

Pragyan Ojha's action cleared by BCCI

Pragyan Ojha will mark his return to competitive cricket during Hyderabad’s last Ranji Trophy Group C game against Himachal Pradesh on Friday

Amol Karhadkar05-Feb-2015Pragyan Ojha’s bowling action has been cleared by the BCCI. He was suspended for bowling with an illegal action in December. The bowler will mark his return to competitive cricket during Hyderabad’s last Ranji Trophy Group C game against Himachal Pradesh on Friday.”It’s hard to describe but yes, I am delighted that I have overcome the glitches in my action,” Ojha told ESPNcricinfo from Hyderabad. “I have managed to get the corrections in place sooner than I expected. That is something I am certainly glad about.”The BCCI clearance came after Ojha’s action was tested again at the new testing facility at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College in Chennai following an extensive corrective programme. Released by Mumbai Indians earlier, Ojha will now be available for the IPL player auction scheduled for February 16.But the auction was the last thing on his mind. “Forget about anything, even picking wickets isn’t on my mind right now. I am just happy to get out there on the park. I know how I have coped for having been unable to play,” he said.Over the last six weeks, Ojha spent almost half of the time trying to get his action corrected. He was guided by D Vasu and M Venkataramana, coaches at the BCCI specialist academy. Once the experts pointed out that his arm was bending due to lack of proper body weight transfer.”The momentum of the body wasn’t happening naturally. When the body weight doesn’t get transferred properly, you tend to use wrong muscles. That is what was happening to me,” Ojha said.Identifying the problem is one thing. Rectifying it is another. Ojha had a hard time in adopting the corrective measures. “First three-four days, I just couldn’t do it. My body wasn’t responding to at all. But all my close ones really helped me out. Both the specialist coaches, [VVS] Laxman and three of my close friends – Amol Shinde, Alfred Absolem and PS Niranjan [all first-class cricketers from Hyderbabad] kept me focused and positive.”The presence of close ones helped Ojha overcome the “worst phase of his career” without seeking formal psychological help. “It was a terrible feeling. Even when I would walk or go to a ground for training, people used to give a strange look. It was as if I had committed a crime. It used to hurt. But then I realised the only way I can change their approach is by getting things right myself.”Ojha’s action has been questioned time and again ever since he burst on to the first-class circuit almost a decade ago. While he was never called on the field, he had to cope with the murmurs of bowling with a dodgy action. After being reported for a suspect action during the zonal one-dayers in November, Ojha volunteered to get his action tested and was subsequently suspended.Ojha hoped that with his action cleared, he can put the episode behind. “I just hope that the worst is behind me and hopefully this topic will not hound me anymore. I hope that I would be able to play cricket at peace and without any strange looks.”

Tharanga dropped for New Zealand Tests

Upul Tharanga, the Sri Lanka opener, has been dropped from the team’s squad for the upcoming two-Test tour to New Zealand

Andrew Fidel Fernando09-Dec-2014Uncapped 21-year-old offspinner Tharindu Kaushal has been named in Sri Lanka’s squad for the tour of New Zealand, while uncapped quick Dushmantha Chameera also earns a place.Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Chandimal reclaims his place in the squad, but Niroshan Dickwella, who kept wicket in the last two Test series, and Prasanna Jayawardene, who has largely been Sri Lanka’s first-choice keeper, are in the squad as well.Opener Dimuth Karunaratne also earns a recall after losing his place to Upul Tharanga for the series against South Africa and Pakistan. Tharanga top-scored with a run tally of 137 in Sri Lanka’s most recent Test, but has nonetheless been cut from all formats, following a string of mediocre ODI performances. Kaushal Silva retains his place, and will most likely take guard against the new ball alongside Karunaratne.Sri Lanka Test squad

Angelo Mathews (capt), Kaushal Silva, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kumar Sangakkara, Lahiru Thirimanne, Niroshan Dickwella, Prasanna Jayawardena, Dinesh Chandimal, Dilruwan Perera, Tharindu Kaushal, Shaminda Eranga, Suranga Lakmal, Dhammika Prasad, Dushmantha Chameera, Nuwan Pradeep, Rangana Herath

Rangana Herath is provisionally in the 16-strong squad, but may not play in the first Test, starting on Boxing Day, for personal reasons. Offspinner Dilruwan Perera is the other slow bowler in the outfit.Chameera’s inclusion comes at the expense of 33-year-old left-arm seamer Chanaka Welegedara, but the core of the seam-bowling unit that has had success in overseas Tests this year remains intact. Suranga Lakmal, Shaminda Eranga, Dhammika Prasad and Nuwan Pradeep have all been named.Kaushal has been among the domestic circuit’s highest-rated spinners since making his first-class debut in February 2013. Energetic through the crease, attacking, and possessing a doosra, Kaushal has reaped 133 first-class scalps at an average of 21.95, and has 14 five-wicket hauls. He has played regularly in the Sri Lanka A team over the past 18 months, and was the top-wicket taker, with 15 wickets at 18.40, in West Indies A’s recent unofficial Test series in Sri Lanka. Kaushal has also been in two Test squads for home series before, but has not played a match.Like Kaushal, 22-year-old right-armer Chameera also plays for Nondescripts Cricket Club, and has earned a reputation as one of the quickest young bowlers in Sri Lanka. Though he is said to frequently bowl at above 140kph, raw speed has not yet materialised into bagfuls of wickets; he has 42 first-class wickets at 30.07 from 18 matches. The two-Test series will be Sri Lanka’s first without Mahela Jayawardene, and Sri Lanka are set to field an inexperienced top order. None of Lahiru Thirimanne, Chandimal, Dickwella, Karunaratne or Kaushal Silva have played 15 Tests. The Boxing Day Test will be played at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, before the teams move to the Basin Reserve for the second match. A seven-match ODI series will follow.

Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club completed a three-match sweep of Midwest Cricket Conference to win the American Cricket Federation’s inaugural North American Cricket Championship in Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday. TCSCC won the first 40-over match by five wickets on Friday after bowling out MCC for 110 and completed another five-wicket win chasing down MCC’s 259 on Saturday. On Sunday, TCSCC posted a 75-run win to round off an undefeated championship weekend.Raza-ur-Rehman, who was Canada’s leading scorer at the recent ICC World Cup Qualifier in New Zealand, was the top-scorer for TCSCC, with 189 runs including an unbeaten 116 in his side’s victory on Sunday. Former Canada players Rustam Bhatti, Arsalan Qadir and Shaheed Keshvani were also part of the winning team from Toronto.MCC’s leading scorer on the weekend was former USA U-19 captain Abhijit Joshi while former USA senior team players Ashhar Mehdi and Sohail Alvi also represented the MCC squad. Noticeably absent from the MCC team though was batsman Fahad Babar. An ACF press release in January had stated that Babar, who was the leading scorer and league MVP in the Chicago-area league this past year, was expected to play for MCC at the event.Babar was part of USA’s squad at the 2013 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in the UAE and had he chosen to play for MCC in Arizona, he may have run the risk of facing consequences from the USA Cricket Association for playing in what was not a USACA-sanctioned event.Following the conclusion of the tournament, the ACF announced plans for its second North American Cricket Championship to be held at the same Nichols Park Basin turf wicket facility in Arizona again next year from March 6-8.

Australia turn to Watson's experience for tips

Adam Voges has said that Australia’s players will be keenly listening to Shane Watson’s tips given the latter’s experience of playing in India

If George Bailey’s Australia have to displace India as the No 1 ODI side during their seven-match series, Shane Watson will have to play a big role. Not just with the leather and the willow that he is accustomed to, but more so in mentoring a squad that lacks experience at the highest level. If Australia’s final training session at the Cricket Club of India’s Brabourne Stadium before flying to Rajkot for Thursday’s solitary Twenty20 international was an indication, Watson was ready for the challenge. The allrounder, who joined the squad on Monday evening following Rajasthan Royals’ fruitful Champions League T20 campaign, appeared to be the sought-after senior during Australia’s extensive practice session.Almost everyone returning from his stint in the nets was seen seeking tips from Watson. And it was perfectly understandable since Watson’s wealth of experience of playing in India dates back to Australia’s triumphant Champions Trophy campaign in 2006. Adam Voges, who was among those who sought Watson’s advice, admitted the latter would indeed wear the mentor’s hat along with wicketkeeper Brad Haddin during the series.Voges ‘fully fit’ after back niggle

Adam Voges, who had returned to Australia during Perth Scorchers’ Champions League T20 campaign, has said his lower back complaint has been taken care of and he is “fully fit” ahead of the ODI series in India.
“Briefly towards the end of the Champions League, made a quick trip home for treatment,” Voges said. “Fully fit now and ready to go. (It was) just a bit of tired back and tired hamstring so just a quick treatment. Back on the plane and ready to go.”
Voges’ return to Australia at the end of last month had raised question marks over his participation in the ODI series. However, he didn’t appear to be in pain at any point during Australia’s rigorous training session and was looking forward to Thursday’s lone T20 in Rajkot. “Every time I play for Australia is a huge opportunity for me. I never look any further than, umm… Thursday night,” he said. “I just love playing for Australia, so any opportunity I get to do that, I really look forward to.”

“Shane is a senior player along with Brad Haddin and these guys bring a wealth of experience, particularly here in India,” Voges said. “Shane has played a lot of cricket here and any tips that he can give to any of our guys, I am sure we all will be listening.”Having been on the road for a fortnight during Royals’ dream run in the CLT20, Watson expectedly took it easy, only doing fielding drills early on. Once he was done with that, the most experienced international cricketer in the Australia squad of 14 switched to the mentoring role for the rest of the session.First, he stood close to the fast bowlers’ nets and was seen constantly passing on tips. He had a prolonged discussion with Mitchell Johnson, the only other squad member besides Watson with more than a 100 ODI caps, who is looking to cement his place in the Australia side. The duo appeared to be discussing gripping the ball and wrist positions.Watson then walked across the outfield and stood behind the batsmen, observing whether his tips had had an impact on Johnson’s bowling. Soon, he was joined by his Royals teammate James Faulkner and the duo was involved in yet another extended chat. After finishing the discussion, Watson sat down on a chair. For the next half hour or so, it became a free-for-all information session for all his team-mates.If they follow Watson’s words of wisdom and he repeats his heroics in the last ODI against England, Australia may well pose a serious threat to India’s top ranking by the end of the series.

Nepal pip USA to WC Qualifiers

Nepal have leapfrogged USA to earn a place in the World Cup Qualifiers after a dramatic day at the World Cricket League Division 3

Bermuda’s Chris Douglas slashed USA’s chances with a brisk 89•ICC/Kageaki Smith

Nepal have leapfrogged USA to earn a place in the World Cup Qualifiers after a dramatic day at the World Cricket League Division 3 tournament in Bermuda. It was a plausible, but unlikely, scenario at the start of the day with Nepal needing to thrash Italy then hope that Bermuda overcame USA. In the end, that is exactly what happened.Nepal raced to victory with a massive 211 deliveries to spare which gave their net run-rate the surge required to keep their hopes alive. Tight bowling had restricted Italy to 127 for 9 and then Nepal’s openers – Subash Khakurel and Pradeep Airee – added 87 in 12 overs to speed them on their way before captain Paras Khadka provided the finishing touches with 22 off eight deliveries.Still, however, Nepal needed a favour from Bermuda who, by now, had no chance of progressing. Ultimately, Bermuda cruised home with more than five overs to spare, but it will have been an agonising few hours for Nepal. The hosts impressively knocked off 221 led by Chris Douglas, who made 89 off 75 balls.Nepal will now join Uganda, who had already qualified top of the group, at next year’s World Cup Qualifiers to compete for a chance to play at the main event in Australia and New Zealand in early 2015.Speaking after the match, Khadka said it was hard work more than luck helped his side into the World Cup Qualifiers. “Pressure is always there, after having lost both our first two games. We had to step it up,” he said. “Hats off to the boys for having played so well and for their determination. We had to wait for the results of the other matches, and then it happened for us. They say that when you work hard, things and luck work for you. That’s what we believe in and it worked for us.”The action is not done yet in Division 3 though, with Nepal facing Uganda in the final on Sunday. Khadka said his side would put the negatives results of the past week out of their minds when they play that game: “We’ll think positive and forget what happened. It was good that we were playing as a team today. The momentum is back and we just need to continue the momentum. Like I’ve said before, if we play to our potential, the results will be pretty good.”
