After rescuing a point against Wolves thanks to a late free-kick from Jacob Murphy, Newcastle welcome one of the Premier League’s high-fliers in Everton on Sunday.

The Toffees have enjoyed a barn-storming start to the new season, with four wins from six, but did taste defeat for the first time when they lost 3-0 to Southampton last week.

Ahead of the game, Magpies boss Steve Bruce has a couple of big calls to make, both in defence and further forward, and with that in mind, below is a look at how the Tyneside club could line up.

The big dilemma for Bruce is of course the fitness of captain Jamaal Lascelles, with the Newcastle boss delivering an update on the centre-back’s status ahead of the Everton game in his pre-match press conference.

He said: “We’ve only got one major concern from last week: the captain, who limped off. He’s got a foot injury and we’ll see how he is in the next 48 hours. But everyone else is OK.”

If Lascelles doesn’t pass a late fitness check, Ciaran Clark could return in defence, with Bruce likely to stick with the same back-five that ultimately helped earn a point against Wolves.

With Jeff Hendrick the only recognised central midfielder in the game at Molineux, Bruce may consider giving him some added help in the engine room, and that could see Isaac Hayden being drafted in for Ryan Fraser.

Further forward, Miguel Almiron’s latest disaster in the Premier League may see the £20m ace drop out, with Joelinton’s added height and presence potentially very useful to combat the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Yerry Mina at set-pieces.

Vice-artilheiro do time no ano passado com 15 gols, Rafael já pegou os seus pertences na Academia de Futebol e está a caminho de Itu (SP). Mesmo reserva no fim da temporada, o atacante de 32 anos é uma figura importante no elenco, que durante a festa do título da Copa do Brasil interrompeu o discurso do diretor de futebol Alexandre Mattos para pedir “fica, Rafael”.

What was the story?

Reports over the summer transfer window suggested that the Magpies were in very advanced talks to sign the Mexico international, and that a deal to lure the winger away from Italy was close.

It was claimed that after enduring a difficult debut campaign in Serie A – he managed just five goals in 34 games across all competitions – Napoli wanted to get him off the books and were willing to sell him for a lower price than what they originally signed him for a year earlier.

Almiron upgrade

Valued at £25.2m by Transfermarkt, Lozano has got all the raw attributes to become a top player, and he could have been a major game-changer for Newcastle.

His manager at Napoli, Gennaro Gattuso, claimed that his speed is “crazy”, whilst his goal-scoring record at former club PSV is something to behold. Despite predominantly operating behind the front-man and out wide, the Mexican showed his incredible knack at finding the back of the net – not surprising given that he’s been compared to now Atletico Madrid superstar Luis Suarez.

In the 79 games that he played for the Eredivisie giants, he scored 40 goals and provided a further 23 assists too, and when you compare those kinds of numbers to Newcastle’s own resident live-wire, Almiron, then it’s really chalk and cheese.

The Paraguay international has scored a measly nine times in 59 games for the club, and has struggled to see his work-rate and energy reflected in end-product.

Had they managed to land Lozano, they would have got a huge upgrade on the former MLS ace.

لا يتعجل زيدان العودة إلى التدريب في عالم كرة القدم لهذا السبب استبعد خيار قيادة مانشستر يونايتد أو نيوكاسل يونايتد.

هناك شيئان فقط يغريان زيدان وهما تدريب منتخب فرنسا وباريس سان جيرمان خاصة في حالة رحيل، ماوريسيو بوتشيتينو، الذي لا يقدم الأداء المنتظر رغم النجوم التي تتواجد في العملاق الفرنسي.

According to ESPN, Tottenham are facing increasing competition for Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie.

What’s the word?

Despite having already signed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer, it appears Jose Mourinho hasn’t finished rebuilding the Spurs midfield ahead of the start of the new Premier League campaign next month.

ESPN claim that the Lilywhites’ reported target, McKennie, is now being pursued by other Premier League clubs, but that it’s Southampton who are currently “leading the race” for the signing of the USA international.

The report adds that a deal for the 21-year-old could reach up to £20m.

Imagine him and Hojbjerg

Whilst Spurs may feel they already have the ‘defensive midfield’ aspect of their squad sorted following the arrival of Hojbjerg, just imagine the kind of unbreakable wall Jose Mourinho could help build if he paired the Denmark international with McKennie.

The Schalke ace is another ball-winning ace whose energy and relentless running is a perfect match for the modern game. His manager at the Bundesliga side, David Wagner, said: “He’s an outstanding talent. In the No.6 or No.8 position he has the mentality, a real working mentality that you need. And he’s brave on the ball as well.”

His teammate at international, Reggie Cannon, further backed that up, revealing: “If you lose the ball, you know he’s going to be the first one running (to get) the ball. He’s a leader and that’s something I can learn from – everyone can learn from to up their game.”

Whilst playing two workman like midfielders in the same line-up seems counter-productive or even defensive, Mourinho could help bring back that solidity that was sorely lacking from Spurs last season – only Chelsea and Burnley conceded more than their 47 Premier League goals out of the top ten.

The teams that Mourinho has been successful with, particularly at the likes of Chelsea and Inter, have had a formidable spine to them – think back to players like Claude Makelele, Michael Essien and Esteban Cambiasso to name but a few. Playing Hojbjerg and McKennie together would offer greater protection to the Spurs back-line and help strike fear into the rest of the Premier League.

Nobody would feel comfortable playing against a duo that hunt down every possession, and get the ball moving up the pitch as quickly as possible. It has all the hallmarks of being a potentially great midfield partnership.

Leeds United are on the hunt for a new central defender and it appears they may have edged closer to landing one if reports are to be believed.

What’s the word?

According to The Sun, the Yorkshire giants are lining up a £15m swoop for Spurs defender Juan Foyth with Marcelo Bielsa believing his fellow Argentinian compatriot would improve the Premier League newcomers.

It’s also claimed that this won’t affect the club’s pursuit to land fan-favourite loan star Ben White on a permanent basis either, which will come as encouraging news to the Elland Road faithful.

Foyth has fallen out of favour in north London and is ‘set to quit’ the club in search of regular match opportunities.

The idea of playing under the 65-year-old is also of huge appeal after the centre-back claimed “[Bielsa is] one of the best coaches in the world and it would be nice to be coached by him.”

Bielsa headache alleviated?

There’s no denying that the Whites will need to bolster their squad in order to compete in the top-flight but no position will be more of a concern than in central defence.

Currently, Bielsa only has one senior option in the role in skipper Liam Cooper, so finding the right sort of target to fill such a void will undoubtedly provide the Argentine with his biggest headache in two years at the club.

Soon-to-be free-agent Gaetano Berardi has been ruled out of action until April 2021, so that’s put pay to any new contract, you’d imagine.

If they can clinch White from Brighton’s grasp after a stunning breakthrough year, it would be huge to their chances of longevity in the PL, but adding a player like Foyth alongside him would surely be the stuff of dreams.

The 22-year-old has been courted by Barcelona in recent months and despite a lack of regular game time at Spurs, plenty have heaped praise on him.

His former boss Mauricio Pochettino called him a “clever” player with “a lot of potential” whilst Jose Mourinho halted a loan exit in January, labelling Foyth “very solid” and “very calm”.

Leeds having a partnership of White and Foyth would be cetainly be a good way to kickstart their first top-flight campaign in 16 years. Solid.

Thairo Arruda também abordou o relacionamento entre a SAF e o associativo do Botafogo, mencionando o processo de construção de limites operacionais nos últimos anos.

— A área mista, dos atletas, eles (associativo) diziam: “A gente precisa ir lá, o presidente, o vice-presidente, ter acesso ao campo”. A gente dá algumas credenciais todos os jogos, eles vão para lá com a gente, a gente passa a trabalhar junto, a tal ponto que eles começaram a querer entrar no vestiário. Então, a gente começa a colocar barreiras. A gente fala: “Você pode passar até aqui, daqui para frente você já não pode mais entrar”. Assim, a gente vai construindo esse entendimento de como as duas partes funcionam ao longo dos quatro anos. Talvez o primeiro e o segundo ano foram mais assim, mas tem limites. Hoje, chegamos num ponto em que as partes já se entendem só de olhar um para o outro. A gente já sabe que pode e que não pode, isso tem tido bastante efeito positivo no Botafogo. Plenty of Leicester City fans have spotted some similarities to footballing legend David Beckham in James Maddison.

The Foxes midfielder has posted a photo to his

/CBQ8IW2FCaf/”>Instagram, sporting new colours for a Puma advertisement campaign. The picture has attracted a lot of attention from Leicester fans, with a few likening him to the England legend in the comments on the image.

Maddison joined the Midlands side from Norwich in 2018 for a fee of £20m (via BBC Sport). Since his arrival, he has caught the eye of top Premier League teams including Manchester United, who are reportedly looking to sign him this summer.

The midfielder has tallied six goals and three assists in the league this season and he is on track to beat his debut campaign with the Foxes where he totalled seven goals and seven assists (via Transfermarkt).

Maddison has just the one senior England cap so far but, with the way he is making a name for himself in the Premier League, it will be hard for Gareth Southgate to ignore his ability in the middle of the park.

He may not be the next Becks in terms of his international status and goal count but the 23-year-old is certainly on his way to making a name for himself as a top-quality midfield talent.
