ونجح روما في حسم الديربي أمام لاتسيو بهدف دون رد سجله المدافع جيانلوكا مانشيني، ضمن منافسات الدوري الإيطالي.

Heinrich Strydom announced as new Dolphins CEO

The Durban-based Dolphins franchise have a new boss after Heinrich Strydom was unveiled as their CEO on Tuesday

Firdose Moonda16-May-2017The Durban-based Dolphins franchise have a new boss after Heinrich Strydom was unveiled as their CEO on Tuesday. Strydom is currently in charge of provincial side North West, one of the teams that feed into the Lions’ franchise, and will take over at Kingsmead from August 1.Strydom succeeds Pete de Wet, who left Durban for Napier last August. The franchise has since been overseen by two acting CEOs, Rajesh Behari, and Muhammad Seedat who will remain in charge until Strydom takes over ahead of the 2017-18 season. At 34, Strydom will be the youngest franchise CEO but he brings with him almost a decade of experience in cricket administration. Apart from his role at North West – a union which regularly plays host to international touring sides for warm-up matches and which will host its first Test since 2002 against Bangladesh this summer – Strydom has also served as general manager of the Lions. His work in creating a venue that is in demand from visiting teams such as Australia, and in building one of the most successful outfits in the country, should serve both Kingsmead and the Dolphins well. The franchise is desperate for silverware after three barren seasons. The Dolphins’ last success was in 2013-14, when they won the T20 competition under coach Lance Klusener. They have since gone through a period of strife during which Klusener’s contract was not renewed, internationals such as Kyle Abbott and David Miller left, and de Wet stepped down, before stabilising under new coach Grant Morgan.”It is an exciting prospect to work with Grant Morgan, a man I know quite well, having played against him in a Club Champs final. Taking on a national franchise was always the next step for me and I am really looking forward to the challenge of running the Dolphins franchise,” Strydom, an opening batsman who played five first-class matches, said. “I am not coming in to change everything. There are a lot of really good things at the Dolphins but I do believe that we can be in the top three franchises in the country.”Apart from domestic results, Stydom will also look to grow Kingsmead’s profile, as it seeks to remain one of the premier international venues in the country. Last season, the stadium hosted an early season Test against New Zealand in August and there was no play possible for three of the five days because of a soaked outfield. The fault did not lie with administrators in Durban, but with an ill-timed re-scarifying of the outfield.Nonetheless, Kingsmead’s outfield was judged poor by the ICC and its reputation took a knock. Two ODIs were played at the stadium since then without incident but Kingsmead continues to fight for its status as the Boxing Day venue of choice for Tests.Recent years have seen the festive fixture alternate between Durban and Port Elizabeth and there is no confirmation of where or if it will be played this summer. With India yet to confirm their fixtures for a four-Test tour of South Africa, Kingsmead has to wait to see which of the matches it may host. The next scheduled Test is in March 2018 against Australia but a host of domestic matches, including those in the inaugural South African T20 league, will precede that. Ensuring Kingsmead is up to standard will be among Strydom’s biggest tasks.

"Magnificent" £37k-p/w Ace "High" On Tottenham’s List Of Targets

Tottenham Hotspur have Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo "high" on their list of targets for the summer, according to journalist Alasdair Gold.

Which defenders are Tottenham signing?

In a recent update on Twitter, Gold confirmed that Adarabioyo is one of Tottenham's key defensive targets for this window, saying:

"Understand Tosin Adarabioyo remains high on Spurs' list of potential central defender moves this summer after some extensive scouting last season."

However, the Fulham defender is not Spurs' only potential target, as detailed by Gold in his report for Football London, with Bundesliga duo Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven also said to be on their list of targets.

The Lilywhites are looking to overhaul their defence ahead of next season, and talks are ongoing over a deal for Tapsoba, who Gold has previously highlighted as the club's "main target".

Van de Ven remains an option if Tottenham are unable to get a move for Tapsoba over the line, with the Dutch centre-back expected to leave Wolfsburg this summer, according to journalist Ryan Taylor.

In the aforementioned Football London report, Gold claims that Adarabioyo ticks plenty of boxes, as he is a homegrown player, and his contract is set to expire at the end of next season, meaning he could be available for a knock-down fee.

The £37k-per-week defender's performances last season have earmarked him as a strong possibility for Ange Postecoglou's defence, however, Spurs will have to fend off interest from elsewhere, with the likes of Inter Milan and AS Monaco also interested.

Is Tosin Adarabioyo leaving Fulham?

With some top clubs from across Europe interested in the centre-back, it would not be a surprise if he seeks pastures new this summer, and some of his displays in the 2022-23 campaign indicate he could be a solid signing for Tottenham.

Having previously been hailed as "magnificent" by former Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray, the Englishman has now started to prove himself in the Premier League, averaging 5.5 clearances per game last term, the highest amount in the Fulham squad.

Tosin-Adarabioyo-fulham-transfer-gossip-postecoglou-tottenham-hotspur-silva-eric-dier

The former Blackburn man received a match rating of over 7.0 in eight of his final ten games for Fulham last season, putting in a very solid display despite a 1-0 loss at Liverpool, making eight clearances and one interception.

Adarabioyo had a very strong end to the 2022-23 campaign, and he could now be ready to take the next step his career by making the switch to Tottenham.

Mumbai achieve record margin in crushing defeat of Daredevils

Scorecard and ball-by-ball details4:27

Bangar: Daredevils lost the match in the first half

Mumbai Indians made a mockery of their opposition on Saturday. First they smacked Delhi Daredevils’ bowlers around to put up a total of 212. Then they bullied the batsmen into folding for a paltry 66. And in the end, a team that had recorded the second-highest chase in IPL history two nights ago was defeated by a margin so huge – 146 runs – it became a tournament record. So how did this all come about? Well, a few things went to plan. Like Lendl Simmons coming off the bench and hitting a half-century, Kieron Pollard responding to his promotion to No. 3 with an innings that was both calculated and cruel and the Mumbai bowlers knocking over each of their bunnies.Daredevils were five down in the chase before the Powerplay was done, and bowled out for their lowest IPL total. Mumbai, on the other hand, stormed into the playoffs.Caribbean carnage, Part 1Simmons has some phenomenal IPL numbers – before tonight he had 10 scores of fifty or more in 22 innings – and yet he had to wait until tonight to get his first game of the season. He began tentatively – as is expected of a batsman whose most recent T20 innings were 1, 1, 4* and 1. But the shackles seemed to break with a pull for six off Kagiso Rabada in the fourth over.Daredevils peppered Simmons with a mix of back-of-a-length and short deliveries, but it did not bother him. He got, both, on top of the bounce, and under it in equal measure – only one of his nine boundaries came off a fullish delivery.Simmons’ 66 off 43 balls took apart Daredevils’ famed fast-bowling attack, counterbalanced Parthiv Patel’s sedate 25 and gave Mumbai the perfect start on a small ground.Caribbean carnage, Part 2For a brief time, Amit Mishra was able to put a stop to Mumbai’s momentum. His first two overs went for only seven runs and had yielded a wicket too. Daredevils’ decision to play a fourth seamer in place of left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem came under question.Pollard, however, hit that hypothesis out of the park, along with four of Mishra’s deliveries. This included denting Zaheer Khan’s plan of bowling Mishra out at a stretch. His two sixes off Mishra’s third over forced Zaheer to give him a change of ends. The two overs needed to make that switch went for 25, and when Mishra returned, Pollard hit him for two more sixes. That was the start of Mumbai’s slog-overs push. Pollard saw it through with an unbeaten 63.Daredevils come a full circleA target of 213, mere days after achieving their highest successful chase, didn’t trouble the Daredevils – for as long as they were in the dugout. Once they came onto the field they realised that the Mumbai bowling attack was well-manned and well-marshalled.Mitchell McCleneghan had removed Sanju Samson three times in nine balls before today. After the first ball of the chase, the head-to-head was adjusted to four wickets in 10 balls.Bumrah had removed Pant twice in six balls. He was brought in for the fourth over and got the batsman out for a duck.Harbhajan had knocked Karun Nair over three times in 19 balls. So naturally he was brought on to bowl to his bunny and the battle ended with a catch to midwicket. These were all signs of a team being well-informed of their own strengths, the opposition’s weaknesses, and exploiting them all perfectly.Meanwhile, Daredevils had updated their lowest score twice in the space of six days, while also pulling off their best chase in the period.

"Outstanding" £145k-p/w Star Waiting For Tottenham To Sign Him

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Barcelona's Clement Lenglet, with the defender now waiting for the move to be completed, however the deal is set to "take a little longer", according to recent reports from Spain.

What's the latest Tottenham transfer news?

Tottenham are set to continue talks over Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven week, with the former now considered Ange Postecoglou's "top target", although journalist Alasdair Gold stresses that he could end up costing as much as £50m.

With such an expensive deal in the works, Spurs may be keen to bolster their defensive ranks with a cheaper option, and it has recently been reported they are now trying to sign Clement Lenglet for free.

Barcelona are keen to get the £145k-per-week earner off the wage bill at Camp Nou, and the Lilywhites have realised that if they are patient in their pursuit of the defender, his current club may be forced to sell him for nothing.

As such, there has been a slight delay in getting a deal for the Frenchman over the line, despite an agreement in principle over personal terms having already been agreed.

There has now been a new update on Tottenham's interest in the Barcelona ace, with reports from Spain detailing that the move is "still pending", with the player himself "waiting" for a deal to be struck to finally confirm the move (via Sport Witness).

Although the 28-year-old is not a part of Barca manager Xavi's plans next season, he is set to resume training with the Barca squad today, while he patienly waits for the terms of the deal to be agreed.

However, the move may not be completed any time soon, as the report claims that it could "take a little longer", with no reason for the delay provided.

Is Clement Lenglet a good signing?

Tottenham's move for the France international has been dragging on for quite some time now, with seemingly very little progress being made, but it is clear that Postecoglou still remains keen on bringing him back to north London.

Despite being hailed as "outstanding" by members of the media during the early stages of the season, the former Sevilla man had a mixed first campaign in the Premier League, averaging just a 6.65 Sofascore match rating, the 20th-highest figure in the squad.

There are aspects of the centre-back's game that are impressive, ranking in the 94th percentile for progressive passes and 77th percentile for tackles per 90 over the past year, when compared to his positional peers.

As such, a move for Lenglet is definitely worth pursuing, however he should not be viewed as anything more than a back-up option for Postecoglou next season, given his uninspiring first season at Tottenham.

Cristian Romero will seemingly soon have a new partner at the back, amid the ongoing talks over deals for Van de Ven and Tapsoba, and the latter has averaged more interceptions, blocks, clearances and aerials won per 90 than Lenglet over the course of the past year.

Leeds "Keeping Tabs" On “Magnificent” £20k-p/w gem

Back to reality and back to Championship football. Leeds United has been here before and knows how to escape, but it is a completely different set-up to previous years.

The club was led by the popular and tactically generational Marcelo Bielsa in the scintillating title victory in the 2019/20 season.

Now, the club is attempting to heal from a highly dysfunctional season that oversaw three different managers, a clueless hierarchy, and a deserved relegation.

But, the confirmation of a new ownership will yield fresh ideas and a different vision. The 49ers have made an intelligent first step, appointing two-time Championship winner Daniel Farke to reverse Leeds’ tumultuous fortunes.

As the rebuild begins to source reliable performers to form a promotion push, Grady Diangana would be an astute start to the process.

What’s the latest on Grady Diangana to Leeds United?

According to The Express and Star, Leeds is said to be 'keeping tabs' on Diangana alongside fellow recently-relegated sides Leicester City and Southampton.

Carlos Corberan’s side is in need of balancing the books and the Whites have sensed an opportunity to bounce, and secure of one West Brom’s most valuable assets.

Last month, Nick Hammond was named as the club’s interim football advisor, and it’s assumed he will move away from Victor Orta’s investment in unproven and experimental signings, toward more well-known assets.

The exits of Robin Koch and Brenden Aaronson have already been confirmed to create space for a player that could massively improve the side for next season.

Who can Grady Diangana emulate at Leeds United?

The winger began his career in the West Ham youth system in 2010 and went on to make 21 appearances for the senior side. He then joined West Brom on loan in 2018 and recorded 15 goal involvements in the Championship.

The attacker was then sold on a permanent deal to the Midlands outfit to spark huge disappointment within the Hammers players and supporters. Then-captain Mark Noble poignantly remarked that he was “gutted, angry and sad” that the youngster had been allowed to so easily depart to underline how he was a force brimming with potential.

This season, Diangana has endured a less productive year, but he has still contributed a respectable seven goals and assists in 21 starts. Nevertheless, the £20k-per-week man has still averaged the second-most dribbles per game (1.1) and the third-highest key passes per game (1.3) in the Baggies squad.

Since Raphinha departed Elland Road for Barcelona last summer, Leeds has been craving a tricky and reliable wide presence. The Brazilian registered 29 goal involvements in 65 Premier League outings, as he established himself as one of the club’s most influential and important performers.

Raphinha Barcelona

He has continued this magisterial form in Catalonia as the £212k-per-week star ranks within the best 15% in Europe’s top five leagues among his positional peers for shot-creating actions per 90, xAG (expected assisted goals) per 90, and total shots per 90, showcasing his devastating attacking threat.

As a fellow left-footer who also typically operates on the flanks, Diangana could then prove to be the man to emulate the former Whites star's heroics at Elland Road, having been lauded as a player capable of producing moments of "magic", in the words of journalist Graeme Brown.

Raphinha’s void is seemingly yet to be sufficiently filled – as Leeds' recent drop into the second tier can attest to – so the signing of the “magnificent” Diangana, as described by Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie, could be the man to do so.

Aston Villa Eyeing Loan Move For 23-Year-Old Barcelona Star

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres on loan this summer, before potentially snapping him up permanently next year.

Is Torres leaving Barcelona?

The 23-year-old moved to Barca from Manchester City during the 2021/22 season, having struggled to ever look like a genuinely key part of Pep Guardiola's plans.

While Torres will have hoped to kickstart his career against back in his homeland, he has also found it difficult to nail down a regular starting berth under Xavi. He only started 14 La Liga games last season, coming on as a substitute on 19 occasions, and it has become apparent that he is expendable.

It means Barca could even allow him to leave during the summer transfer window, along with fellow young talent Ansu Fati, which is where Villa could come into play.

The Villans could be set to embark upon a hugely exciting summer window, with Pau Torres already expected to come in as an eye-catching defence signing, and funds available to bring in more players.

Are Villa eyeing summer move for Torres?

According to Mundo Deportivo [via Caught Offside], Villa are keen on the idea of signing Torres on loan ahead of the new season, with a view to signing him permanently in 2024, should he impress. There is a €25m (£21.5m) purchase option that would come into play at that point.

Newcastle United have also been linked with a move for the Spaniard in the recent past, however, so there could be competition for his signature, should he and Barca both agree to a move away makes the most sense.

Torres could be another statement signing by Villa this summer if they could get a deal over the line, possessing genuine pedigree, having already won three league titles in his short career to date, not to mention scoring 15 goals in 35 caps for Spain.

The fact that Xavi has called him "world-class" in the past says a huge amount about what the youngster is capable of as a footballer, and while he clearly hasn't set the world alight at City and Barca, he could thrive by being one of the first names on the team sheet at Villa Park.

At 23, he still has so many years to hone his talent and he could fulfil his potential under Unai Emery, with his compatriot outlining why he is one of Europe's leading managers after a great start to life at Villa.

In the Powerplay, Zaheer has an economy rate of 6.45 this season, the fourth best among all teams and best for Daredevils. Zaheer has also dismissed Gautam Gambhir six times in the IPL. A mixture of slower balls and his wiles could make him effective against Sunil Narine as well. Zaheer could, therefore, bowl three overs within the Powerplay, leaving their overseas seamers to bowl in the end overs.Stats that matter Sunil Narine has dominated Daredevils’ top order in the IPL. In a combined 56 balls against Sanju Samson, Karun Nair and Corey Anderson, he has conceded just 49 runs with three dismissals. Chris Morris has been Daredevils’ end-overs specialist with both bat and ball. He has scored just 139 runs in those 134 deliveries.

Wolves could sign £74k-p/w "machine" this summer

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly close to striking a deal with Matt Doherty to bring the Irishman back to Molineux this summer.

The 31-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving Atletico Madrid and could be a valuable member for Julen Lopetegui to reintegrate into his side.

Could Wolves sign Matt Doherty?

As reported by The Athletic yesterday, Wolves are in ‘advanced talks’ to bring the defender back to the Midlands.

After three years away from the Old Gold the 31-year-old looks ‘set to seal’ a move back to the club, with ‘positive discussions’ reported via The Athletic’s Steve Madeley.

How could Matt Doherty fit in at Wolves?

After 10 years at Wolves, Doherty opted to join Tottenham Hotspur in 2020 before leaving north London in a surprise move to Atletico Madrid in January 2023.

Things didn’t work as planned for the Irishman in the Spanish capital, as he departed this summer having made only two LaLiga appearances in a move that deprived him of playing time.

A return to Molineux could come at a perfect time for the 31-year-old and Lopetegui, as he looks to rebuild the foundations of the club after a decrease in squad names this summer.

Names such as Ruben Neves, Conor Coady, Adama Traore and Joao Moutinho departed Wolves this summer after each spending five or more years on the books at Molineux, leaving Lopetegui open to a rebuild.

The return of Doherty could reinstall some structure to the Spaniard’s plans to sculpt his side in preparation for his first full season in charge.

Sitting at the bottom of the table on Christmas day left the Old Gold wondering if their time in the top-flight was up, however, Lopetegui managed to turn fate around in ending the campaign in 13th.

julen-lopetegui-wolves-tottenham-hotspur-live-updates-manager-nuno-espirito-santo-levy

While it’s integral that the former Real Madrid boss addresses the issues in the goal-scoring department, regaining defensive structure is key to bridging the gap between Wolves and the bottom third of the table.

Doherty could act as a familiar face to Molineux in a time of change, in a place that he impressed for years, making a total of 302 appearances for the club.

Once hailed as a “machine” by writer Tim Spiers during his time at Wolves, the Irishman could add competition and an authoritative figure to Lopetegui’s squad which has already changed drastically since the end of the season.

During the 2019/20 campaign, the Dublin-born gem averaged 1.5 tackles and 1.1 interceptions per game at right-back, as well as contributing strongly in the final third with four goals and three assists, via WhoScored.

The £74k-per-week defender could not only arrive back in the Midlands with experience and a love for the club under his belt, but with a competitive streak worthy of prompting Nelson Semedo to raise his performance.

The Portuguese ace’s future is still not confirmed to be at Molineux, however, Lopetegui could be in a positive stance should Doherty arrive to either compete with the 29-year-old or cover his place.

It’s been a hectic summer already for the Old Gold, who seem to have got their finances under lock after making almost £80m in sales, so the rebuild for Lopetegui begins now with trialling times ahead, one that can be kickstarted with the return of a fan-favourite.
