Leeds fans react to update on Jack Clarke’s illness

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Leeds fans have been reacting to an update on the fitness of Jack Clarke, who is set to return to outdoor training next week.

Clarke has been one of the most exciting parts of this exhilarating season at Elland Road, as the teenager looks more than capable of becoming a true Leeds great.

Born and raised in Yorkshire, it’s no surprise fans are very fond of the 18 year-old, and he has bagged two goals and two assists this season despite starting just four Championship games.

He was stretchered away from the sideline during the 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough though, and fans were extremely worried over the youngster’s future.

According to Phil Hay of the Yorkshire Evening Post, the winger was suffering from a virus, and has been doing indoor gym work this week, before returning to outdoor training next week.

This will come as a huge relief to Marcelo Bielsa, who is already without Kemar Roofe for an estimated eight weeks due to a knee injury.

Rangers fans slam Barisic performance vs Aberdeen

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Rangers fans have been reflecting on the weekend’s action, and they’re not too happy with the recent form of Borna Barisic.

Rangers had to settle for a draw in their Scottish Cup quarter-final at Pittodrie, as a fiery contest between the two sides ended 1-1.

This was the fifth times the teams have met this season, meaning of course the replay at Ibrox will take it to six, so it is perhaps no surprise that such an intense rivalry is brewing amongst both players and fans.

Alfredo Morelos was once again the centre of much conversation on Sunday as the Colombian was booked for a blatant dive, but Aberdeen goalscorer Sam Cosgrove was very lucky not to receive the same punishment.

Cosgrove scored from the spot after a foul by Connor Goldson, but took a tumble later in the first half, a tumble that actually led to a Rangers counter attack.

Joe Worrall levelled the scores for the Gers after the interval, but fans are crucifying the performance of Barisic, who was poor again.

The flying left-back felt like a huge upgrade on Jon Flanagan when he broke into the side due to his technical ability and excellent crossing, but if truth be told he looks dazed and confused out there at times.

The 26 year-old Croatian, who signed last summer on a four-year deal, implying Gerrard has long-term plans for him, does not currently look up for the physicality of Scottish football.

Brands’ strategy revealed, PL man identified, summer bid pending: Everton transfer roundup

[ad_pod ]

With Everton’s season falling into a typical pattern of mediocrity, the supporters will already be turning their attention towards the summer window.

Marcel Brands made an immediate impact last summer during his first transfer window as the club’s Director of Football, and reports emerging over the weekend have suggested what his transfer strategy could look like.

Let’s take a look at some of the most intriguing transfer stories to emerge over the course of the weekend…

Brands wants Rafael Leao as part of recruitment drive for young talent

The Daily Mail published a report on Saturday to get the Toffees faithful salivating. The report claims that Everton are interested in signing exciting 19-year-old Rafael Leao this summer.

Lille’s wonderkid has previously attracted interest from Manchester City and been dubbed as the ‘Portuguese Mbappe’ by French journalist Julien Laurens.

And the report later goes on to state that Brands is hoping to recruit young talent, such as Leao, in order to build a side that is capable of moving the club forward after years of stagnation.

Everton eyeing deal for Kieran Trippier

Kieran Trippier’s stock peaked during the World Cup but a recent report from The Sun suggests his value has plummeted during a difficult campaign for Tottenham’s right-back.

The report claims that Everton have renewed their interest in the 28-year-old, with Spurs ready to offload the full-back along with backup option Serge Aurier.

The tabloid newspaper claim the England international is worth £20 million with two years remaining on his current contract.

Everton and Leicester both plotting summer attempt for Djene

According to Spanish media outlet Marca, Getafe’s Djene has a release clause of 35 million euros (£30 million).

The Togo international has attracted interest from Arsenal, Leicester City and Everton, and both the Foxes and the Toffees are planning on making an attempt to sign him during the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid all have no interest in signing the 27-year-old according to the report.

Spurs fans confident of beating Man City in Champions League

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur fans believe they have what it takes to knock Manchester City out of the Champions League after watching them struggle past Swansea City in the FA Cup.

Pep Guardiola’s side were given an almighty scare in Wales, as they fell 2-0 behind to the Championship side in the quarter-final.

A rally saw Bernardo Silva reduce the arrears before a controversial Sergio Aguero penalty rebounded off the post and goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt to bring City level.

Aguero then sent his side into the semi-finals with a superb diving header but replays showed that he was offside; the decision was not rescinded because VAR was not in use at the Liberty Stadium.

And Spurs fans have been emboldened by City’s display after being drawn against them in the last eight of the Champions League.

The two sides will play each other over two legs and supporters are suddenly ebullient about the prospect of progressing to the last four of Europe’s elite competition.

Blackburn fans react to Ben Brereton’s brace in the Premier League Cup

[ad_pod ]

Blackburn Rovers’ under-23s side progressed in the Premier League Cup with a 5-1 thrashing of Doncaster Rovers under-23s on Monday night. An own goal and braces for Ben Brereton and Joe Nuttall were enough to secure victory for Rovers’ youngsters.

Brereton will be particularly pleased to have found the back of the net as he has endured a tough campaign at Ewood Park so far.

Rovers signed the 19-year-old striker in August from Nottingham Forest on an initial loan deal that can be made permanent for £7million, as reported by the BBC. Tony Mowbray looked to have pulled off quite a coup in bringing the exciting striker to the club but things have not gone to plan since then.

As per Transfermarkt’s stats, Brereton has made 22 appearances for the first team so far this season but is still yet to open his goalscoring account for Rovers. Fans will be hoping that his brace for the reserves can boost his confidence.

After the under-23s match on Monday, plenty of Rovers fans took to Twitter to react to Brereton’s performance…

Liverpool fans react after Everton fans are caught singing Manchester City songs

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react furiously after they discovered that Everton fans were singing Manchester City songs following the 0-0 draw at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The Reds’ inability to beat their city rivals saw them miss an opportunity to leapfrog Pep Guardiola’s side and return to the top of the table, and with nine games to go, the reigning champions have the initiative.

Obviously, Liverpool and Everton are bitter rivals, and whilst the Toffees’ celebrations after the full-time whistle seemed like they were celebrating a point, they were perhaps more intent on cheering the fact that they dented their foes’ title hopes.

After the showpiece event, Everton fans were caught on camera singing Manchester City’s ‘Blue Moon’ song to celebrate the Citizens returning to the top of the table.

Understandably, after seeing their title hopes dealt a blow, Liverpool fans on Twitter were quick to retaliate after seeing the video…

Jack Grealish is a hugely exciting West Ham United target

Stealing Aston Villa star Jack Grealish from under the noses of long-term admirers Tottenham Hotspur would represent a major step in the right direction for West Ham’s future ambitions.

According to the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are favourites to secure Grealish’s signature this summer, having already come close to completing a £25 million deal last year.

The Championship star has since signed a five-year contract with Villa, but we are not entirely convinced, and his fresh commitment could prove to be a moot obstacle in the Premier League’s pursuit for one of its missing English stars, and with West Ham and Bournemouth now entering the fray, we imagine this already buzzing transfer saga will reach boiling point soon enough.

Indeed, Aston Villa’s most prized possession has been on the books for a top-flight switch for some time now, and the Hammers could snatch his services from the hands of Mauricio Pochettino if they are willing to release Manuel Pellegrini on another spending spree.

Pellegrini’s men have been relatively poor this campaign, and standout performances from inherently average players like Robert Snodgrass, who surely cannot be relied upon again next term, has really reiterated the need to introduce some quality talents to improve on impending midtable misery.

And West Ham’s pursuit of Grealish could be boosted by the fact that he will likely need to leave his boyhood club if he wants to enter Gareth Southgate’s future plans.

“Jack worked with us in the Under-21s briefly,” Southgate said when asked about Grealish’s absence (as per the Mirror).

“The difficulty is always that, although we can see the quality, he’s at a different level and it’s hard to directly correlate what that will look like at a level above. With Callum, he’s playing Europa League, he’s playing Premier League, that makes a difference.

“I’m not going to say we won’t pick from the Championship, as that could happen, but it’s far more difficult to assess his level.

“You see certain parts of the game, but not others. Not the physicality at times, nor the tactical discipline.

“That’s at another level in the Premier League, the speed, the pace. So, Jack’s a player we know all about, he’s a player we track.

“But that last bit of evidence, which could give you confidence to pick him, we haven’t seen.”

Grealish would provide a huge boost to a forward lineup that has largely gone missing this season, and added a bit of much-needed dynamism to proceedings where it has been typically lacking under current answerless players.

West Ham fans, would you be happy to see Grealish playing for you next season?

Relegation the grim prospect of the post-Zaha era at Palace

[ad_pod ]

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could look to re-sign Wilfried Zaha this summer, per The Sun.

The Norwegian worked with the Crystal Palace star at Cardiff City and he is considered an alternative to Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi and Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

What’s the word?

Zaha, of course, was Sir Alex Ferguson’s final signing during his decades-long tenure at Old Trafford.

The move did not work out, however, and he was sent on loan to both Cardiff and Palace, the latter of which became a permanent move.

The Sun now claim that another return could be on the cards as Solskjaer weighs up his options ahead of the summer transfer window.

Hudson-Odoi and Sancho are mentioned as possible targets but both would be difficult deals to do – Chelsea are under a transfer ban while Sancho could reportedly cost upwards of £100million.

A potential move for Zaha, then, has been mooted, with Solskjaer a big fan of the Palace ace.

He played 13 times for Cardiff under Solskjaer and has enjoyed another good season this term, scoring eight goals and laying on six assists in 29 outings in all competitions.

A relegation battle if they lose him

Palace had better be very careful.

If Zaha departs the club – and maybe few would blame him if he is given another shot at conquering Old Trafford – Palace will be woefully short of game-changers.

The likes of Andros Townsend and Christian Benteke have flattered to deceive this season and, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka also continually linked away, there is the potential of Palace seeing their most important players depart this summer. January signing Michy Batshuayi is only on loan until the end of the season

The Eagles have drifted under Roy Hodgson this season and could still, however unlikely it is, be pulled into the relegation battle before the end of the campaign.

Losing Zaha would be a bitter blow as he is borderline irreplaceable; one wonders how another mercurial winger would be convinced to join a club that has consistently struggled to finish in the top 10.

Without Zaha, they may well drop into the bottom three next season.

Tottenham fans react to reports of Steven Bergwijn interest

[ad_pod ]

According to De Telegraaf, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing PSV Eindhoven attacker Steven Bergwijn in this summer’s transfer window.

Bergwijn is having a very, very good season at PSV – contributing 12 goals and 13 assists in 32 appearances.

Just 21 years of age, it is not too difficult to understand why there is a lot of excitement surrounding the three-time Netherlands international.

According to De Telegraaf, Tottenham are interested in a deal this summer, but will have to pay more than £30m to land the attacker.

To be honest, that seems more than a fair figure in the current market, but it remains to be seen whether chairman Daniel Levy is prepared to meet the asking price.

The Tottenham fans have been on social media offering their views on the transfer report.
